Teachers's sex with student causes break-up

Chad Bryan, Staff Reporter

The former lover of a male teacher at a Corporate Area high school is accusing him and other teachers of the school of having sex with his students.

The woman, who says she was in a relationship with the accounts teacher for 10 years while living with him, discovered his unfaithfulness to her with his students over the last two years of their relationship.

"I know about this because I used to live with one of the teachers and we have a child together. This activity was one of the reasons we separated. I thought it had stopped, but I just found out recently that he is in an active sexual relationship with one of his 10th-grade students," she said, asserting that this was not speculation.

Going further into the situation, the woman, who preferred to remain anonymous, claimed she noticed certain behaviours, which aroused her suspicion.

"I came home from work and they were supposedly having a study session. In the long run, one of them (student), who I wondered why she stopped coming to my house, told me that the reason she stopped coming was that he approached her," she said.

"She told me that he said that her friends were doing it so why not her. I confronted him about it and he said so what happen, they are 16 and they are big people," the woman added.

When asked if she had made a report to the principal about this, she said someone pointed out to her that nothing would come of her report to the school.

"I tried calling the principal. I know somebody that is acquainted over there and they said it would just be a waste of my time because they know about it, it is just that they won't do anything," she said, claiming that she requested a meeting with the principal over the situation also.

When the school was contacted, the principal and vice-principal were unavailable due to school activities. When an administrator was asked about the situation, he claimed not to know anything about it.

Speaking with the Child Development Agency on the matter, chief executive officer, Rosalee Gage-Grey, stated that if a report of such a nature was made to her agency it would be investigated. She also stated that the agency generally gets reports of teachers.
