A man accused of cutting a woman had his bail extended when he appeared before the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court on Tuesday.

Charged with unlawful wounding and assault occasioning bodily harm is Mark Walters.

When asked to enter a plea by the Clerk of Court, Hansard Lawson, the accused man boldly stated: "I pleaded not guilty on the last occasion."

The man's apparent cheeky response was met with disapproval by Senior Resident Magistrate Judith Pusey.

"Yes, but we're asking you today!" the sitting magistrate chided.

Walters proceeded to enter a plea of not guilty.

Allegations are that on the day of the incident, Walters and the female complainant reportedly got into a dispute that quickly became physical. It is believed that the female complainant sustained cuts during the fracas. It is unclear as to what the dispute between the two was about.

In court, Walters had his bail extended. He is scheduled to reappear in court on June 25, at which time an outstanding medical report is expected to be completed.
