A St James man, who reportedly used a car seat to hit a male relative during a dispute earlier this year, will stand trial before the Montego Bay Resident Magistrate's Court on June 30.

Kino Smart, charged with unlawful wounding, had his bail extended following his court appearance on Tuesday.

Presiding magistrate Carolyn Tie was informed that the prosecution's case file was complete and ready for trial, and that the prosecution would be calling two witnesses to give evidence against Smart.

RM Tie extended Smart's bail until June 30.

Allegations are that, on February 21, Smart and his relative were engaged in an argument. The dispute quickly turned physical when Smart flung a car seat at the complainant, inflicting a wound to the man's forehead and hand.

On a previous court appearance, Smart said he had acted in self-defence, but the complainant told the court the dispute stemmed from a quarrel over family property.
