|||||
Rasbert Turner, Star Writer A St Catherine womancharged with the death of her six-month-old child was remanded when she appeared in the Spanish Town Resident Magistrate's Court on Wednesday. Charged with the death of Taigia Gabbidon of Gregory Park, St Catherine, is Nordia Harris, 32-year-old vendor of the same address. When the matter was mentioned before Resident Magistrate Natalee Brooks, attorney-at-law Ricardo Sancroft made an impassioned plea on behalf of his client. He told the court that the accused has two other children, eight and six-years-old respectively who were at home and needed her presence. The court told the defence the accused must get an alternative address. Allegations are that, on January 27, the accused left the infant at home in Gregory Park. She then went to Kingston where she conducted personal business. When she returned home, she found the child collapsed, headway in a bucket of water. Following an investigation, she was charged with manslaughter. Harris is to reappear in court on June 16, when the matter will again be mentioned. Clerk of Court was Venice Blackstock Murray. |
