A tailor accused of telling persons he could secure jobs for them when he was knowingly unable to do so, was further remanded into custody when he appeared before the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court on Wednesday yesterday.

Charged with obtaining money by means of false pretence is 36-year-old Steve Lewis of Spanish Town, St Catherine.

Allegations are that between May 2014 and April 2015, the accused man collected money from the complainants on the premise that he could get them employment at a hotel located in Florida. The sum of $70,000 was said to be collected over the period from the complainants in the matter.

Subsequently, it is believed that Lewis was taken to the Hunts Bay Police Station by one of the complainants where he was arrested and charged.

Subsequently, Senior Resident Magistrate Judith Pusey ordered Lewis further remanded into custody. He is scheduled to reappear on May 29 pending a mention hearing, at which time he is expected to repay the sum. A fingerprint order was also made.
