Fulfill your Dreams in Lotto Classic

Jimmie, STAR Racing Writer

TOMORROW's Lotto Classic Governor's Cup has a great storyline. Omar Walker is back aboard a Wayne DaCosta horse for the first time in three years, 2000 Guineas runner-up, SEEKING MY DREAM, a ride ditched by Shane Ellis because he wants to be cozy again in Anthony Nunes' barn.

An interesting matchup looms as Ellis' choice, SIEMPRE BUENO, has twice finished behind SEEKING MY DREAM, giving away two kilos when overpowered at 1820 metres in their last meeting. A kilo now separates them.

Add to the plot champion jockey Dane Nelson on SOUTHERN CRUISE, unbeaten in two races including a four-length victory at 1820-metre. He is in at 53.0 kilos - nine pounds lighter than topweight stablemate SIEMPRE BUENO at 57.0.

It doesn't stop there. SEEKING MY DREAM's stablemate, POKER STAR, has suddenly grabbed the headlines after going toe-to-toe at exercise with the Guineas runner-up. He has DaCosta's go-to jockey aboard, Robert Halledeen, and outshone SEEKING MY DREAM in his last workout, albeit the champion trainer had kept them apart Sunday morning.

With the varying weight differences and glittering exercise spins, especially SIEMPRE BUENO's 1:12.3, fitted with a tongue tie, the DaCosta-Nunes showdown is on.

However, the horse who has shown the best ability must be SEEKING MY DREAM, beaten only by stablemate and Derby favourite ALI BABA in five races since January.

What franked SEEKING MY DREAM's form was Guineas winner ALI BABA's performance against grade-one COMMANDING CHIEF in an open allowance last Saturday.

Running against older horses for the first time, actually skipping overnight allowance, ALI BABA put on a mighty show when surging ahead of COMMANDING CHIEF at the top of the lane in the 1820-metre Mark My Word Trophy.

He passed the post third in a three-way photo won by stablemate HOVER CRAFT, and was afterwards awarded second on COMMANDING CHIEF's disqualification for a minor infringement when turning for home.

ALI BABA had to run his shoe off to deny SEEKING MY DREAM in the 2000 Guineas at a mile. That was after Halledeen sat off the pace with ALI BABA, watching SEEKING MY DREAM turn back SIEMPRE BUENO on the lead.

SEEKING MY DREAM's class and pace cannot be doubted, nor can his stamina. Him galloping 1:15.3 in his last workout, alongside GRANVILLE GRETA, a lesser stabelmate, is merely DaCosta's way of keeping him fresh, not leaving his form on the exercise track as his rivals have seemingly done in preparation for a 2000-metre race.
