court calls for fingerprint order in assault case

A man was fined $15,000 or six months for using a stone to hit an elderly man on his hand, causing pain and swelling.

On Friday, when the matter was called up in the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court, Clifford Brown pleaded guilty to assault.

He also told the court, "Your honour, is a little stone to, enuh. Is a man weh mi respect and ting, we just had a little argument and that happen."

Senior Resident Magistrate Judith Pusey told the accused that was not the way to treat the elderly.

"You must have some respect for your elders," she said.

A fingerprint order was also made against the accused.
