Strictly Addi team to beef up security

Plans to make improvements after car-theft incident

Rum Bar Rum Strictly Addi: Summer Time In Portmore exceeded patrons' expectations in terms of turnout, high energy, great-tasting drinks and consistent vibe. However, there were a few security lapses.

The second staging of Strictly Addi saw patrons fill Famous Nightclub before 2 a.m.

"Since moving to our new home at Famous Nightclub in Portmore, the reception has been great," said Gabrielle Curling, PR director of the Strictly Team.

Known for their unique brand of entertainment and high energy, main disc jocks Heavy D from Chromatic and ZJ Chrome delivered exceptional sets that had patrons singing along and dancing the entire night.

Famous Nightclub's resident DJ Solar Dre started with hits from the early '90s dancehall and hip hop. Vybz Kartel and Wayne Marshall's New Millenium, Bounty Killer's Another Level, Notorious BIG's Hypnotize and R Kelly's Remix To Ignition drew some of the biggest responses from Solar Dre's early set.

ZJ Chrome and Heavy D played for over three hours, dishing out several songs from Vybz Kartel's massive catalogue, including Sweet To The Belly, CT Scan, Clarks and Back To Life.

Despite the highs of the event, a few incidents resulted in a bad experience for a few patrons.

"We know of a few incidents relating to vehicle security; however, these took place in undesignated parking areas where, we learned after, unscrupulous persons were charging patrons to park," Curling said.

"We take the matter very serious, and going forward, our main focus will be to increase security even in those areas. Our patron's property safety is equally as important as all aspects of the event."

Nonetheless, the promoters intend to continue the series, as they plan to have two stagings before the end of the year.

"Our top priority now is addressing the concerns from Strictly Addi and ensuring it's not repeated. Additionally, we are putting plans in place for a Strictly Bubbling and Strictly Bottles," added Marc Hines, promotions director for the Strictly Team.
