Alleged burglar remanded
Pleads not guilty to offences

A man accused of breaking into a home and making off with a cellular phone was remanded when he appeared before the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court on Tuesday.

Charged with burglary and larceny is Lance Ewers, who pleaded not guilty to both offences.

Allegations are that, on June 15 at approximately 1 a.m., Ewers reportedly broke into the Trench Town, St Andrew home of the female complainant, making off with a Samsung Galaxy S3 cellular phone.

The court heard that the complainant made a report to the police, and Ewers was arrested and charged.

Upon receiving station bail, it is said that Ewers reportedly made his way to the complaint's home and threatened her, as he is allegedly known as a 'community enforcer'. The complainant told the court that she has since been forced to move from the community following the incident.

"Up until now I'm traumatised by it," the complainant said.

In court, Senior Resident Magistrate Judith Pusey ordered Ewers remanded until July 15, pending a preliminary hearing. A fingerprint order was also made against him.
