Cate Blanchett being deprived of sleep since adopting

Cate Blanchett is “sleep deprived” since adopting her daughter. The 46-year-old actress and husband Andrew Upton – who also have three biological children Dashiell, 13, Roman, 10, and seven-year-old Ignatius – adopted Edith Vivian Patricia last year, but Cate admitted she is exhausted since expanding her family to four kids.

She told Australia’s Sunday Telegraph: “I feel a bit sleep-deprived.”

However, Cate – who is preparing to tread the boards in an upcoming production of The Present – admitted there are some benefits.

She said: “Although sometimes, it can be good to be a bit tired in a rehearsal room because your guard is down.”

Cate previously said that it was ‘extraordinary’ to have another tiny tot in the family.

She said: “It’s been an absolute gift and we’re utterly besotted.”

Cate has said that she and her family are “absolutely besotted” with Edith.

She said: “Fourth time round, it’s extraordinary! There’s a lot of children out there who don’t have the good fortune that our biological children do so it’s wonderful, it’s wonderful to welcome a little girl into our fold.”
