JUTC student concession ends for summer

The Jamaica Urban Transit Company (JUTC) is reminding student concession passengers ages 12 to 20 in uniform that effective Saturday, July 4, the student concession rate of $30 will not apply to their travel on JUTC buses.

This is so because school officially ends on Friday, July 3, and student travel, which is for students ages 12 to 20 in uniform, applies only during school time. Consequently, all passengers above 12 years will pay the adult fare until September 7 when school resumes.

However, with JUTC’s special summer, students along with the regular adult passengers will pay only $100. The JUTC special summer fare became effective yesterday, July 5, and will continue until Saturday, August 29, 2015. The company’s premium and express services will not be included in the JUTC’s special summer fare.

The JUTC is also advising that children who will be turning 12 years by September should visit JUTC locations to have their Smarter Card profile changed to reflect they have moved into the category of student concession passengers.
