Two arrested during ganja raid

In an effort to put a damper on the guns-for-drugs trade between Haiti and Jamaica, lawmen attached to the Black River Police Station carried out operations in the Fort Charles district of St Elizabeth on Friday, where they seized a quantity of compressed ganja.

Reports are that about 4:30 a.m., an area in the community was searched and approximately 702 pounds (319.09 kilograms) of compressed ganja in 15 white knitted bags and one travelling bag were found hidden in bushes.

Two persons were subsequently arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to export ganja. Their identities are being withheld pending further investigations.
