Three killed in separate motor vehicle accidents

The number of road fatalities continues to grow with three persons being killed in separate traffic incidents between Saturday and Sunday.

They have been identified as Michael Jackson, 49, of Caanan Heights, Clarendon; Clive James, a 43-year-old construction worker of Sandy Bay district in St Elizabeth and an unidentified man.

According to the May Pen police, Jackson was killed about 11:45 a.m. on Saturday, when he was allegedly hit by a Nissan Sunny motor car as he attempted to cross the Bustamante Highway in Clarendon.

The Pedro Plains police report that several hours later, about 9:35 p.m., James was driving his motorcycle along the Pedro Plains main road in St Elizabeth when he lost control of the vehicle, which crashed into a utility pole. He was pronounced dead at hospital.

LOST CONTROL

On Sunday, in Portland, a motorcyclist was killed shortly after 5 p.m. in Orange Bay, after he lost control of the unit which slammed into a sports utility vehicle (SUV) head on.

The name of the man is not yet known, but according to several eyewitnesses, the bike was travelling at top speed, near 40 acres, Orange Bay, when the rider lost control and slammed into the SUV travelling in the opposite direction from Port Antonio.

Following the accident, a massive crowd converged at the scene to view the victim who had several internal organs exposed, and his clothing ripped.

The motorcycle was some metres from the victim, and his shoes was nowhere to be found.

A doctor who arrived on the scene shortly after pronounced the man dead, and a further search of the area resulted in his shoes and helmet being found.
