TRADESMAN GETS BAIL EXTENSION

BJORN BURKE, Staff Reporter

A tradesman accused of not honouring his contractual agreement had his bail extended when he appeared before the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate’s Court on Thursday.

Charged with failure to deliver goods on the contracted date is Kenneth McPherson.

Allegations are that sometime during March, the accused and the female complainant, who was his client, agreed upon the price of $25,000 for the fabrication of three metal gates. It is said that the agreed-on date on which the items were expected to be complete came and passed, with neither a refund granted to the complainant or the delivery of the completed items, in direct conflict with Section 31 of the Consumer Protection Act.

DELIVERY

“When is the lady getting her goods?” probed Senior Resident Magistrate Judith Pusey.

However, the complainant soon revealed that she was no longer interested in having the products delivered, but simply wanted a refund.

The accused man made restitution in the sum of $12,000, leaving a balance of $13,000.

He is to reappear in court on July 14 for a mention hearing, at which point he is expected to pay the balance.
