Man remanded for robbing student

A man accused of robbing a high-school student of $1,400 was remanded in the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday.

Charged with robbery with aggravation is Nicholas Myles.

He was fingerprinted by the police.

The Crown alleges that on Thursday June 4, shortly after 6 a.m., the complainant, a student of the Meadowbrook High School, was walking in the vicinity of Gore Terrace when she was pounced upon by the accused and two other men armed with knives.They robbed her of money and escaped.

On June 27, the accused was pointed out on an identification parade and later charged.

In court, when Senior Resident Magistrate Judith Pusey questioned the school girl about the incident, the visibly shaken young lady burst into tears.

The magistrate subsequently ordered that Myles be remanded.

A statement in the case is outstanding. Myles will return to court on July 13.
