One-y-o attacked for mom

Christopher Thomas, STAR Writer

WESTERN BUREAU:

A St James man accused of fracturing a one-year-old child's skull with a board during an argument with the child's mother is booked to appear before the Montego Bay Resident Magistrate's Court on September 8.

Damion McIntosh is charged with assault occasioning actual bodily harm. He was remanded when he appeared in court recently.

It is alleged that on an unspecified date, McIntosh got into an argument with the mother of the complainant while at the People's Arcade in Montego Bay. During the dispute, McIntosh took a board and hit the child in the face, resulting in bruising and swelling.

The mother took the child to hospital, where it was discovered that the child's skull had been fractured. McIntosh was later arrested and charged.

The court was told that an officer in the case was absent due to illness, and that a subpoena would have to be issued for the complainant's mother, who was also absent.

McIntosh was subsequently remanded until September 8, when the matter will again be mentioned.
