Cops investigate clarendon double murder

Horace Fisher, Star Writer

Homicide detectives are still combing through the circumstances that led to Sunday night's double murder in the volatile Bucknor community in May Pen, Clarendon, where gunmen shot and killed 25-year-old Allayne 'Nick' Watt and Oreth 'Eskel' Wilson, 36.

According to a senior investigator based at the Clarendon police headquarters, Watt and Wilson were both patrons at a shop in the Bailey Avenue area of Bucknor when they were attacked by men armed with guns, who shot both men to death.

The senior lawman reported that Wilson, who was wanted for questioning on a number of crimes committed in the parish, including a series of robberies and the murder of Peter Wallace, may have been the gunmen's target, while Watt, may have been killed accidentally.

"Wilson was a person of interest and was wanted for questioning in relation to a number of crimes committed in Clarendon. His rap sheet included armed robberies and the murder of transport operator Peter Wallace," the senior cop said.

"Wilson was also fingered in the abduction and murder of another transport operator, Terence Robinson, therefore, he may very well have been the killer(s) target, while Watt may just have been a casualty of that shooting," the cop added.

When The Star visited Bailey Avenue, people, while tight-lipped about the double murder, declared that their sorrow for the 25-year-old Watt, who they described as a hard-working, law-abiding young man, was overwhelming.

"A good youth man, and we know that he wasn't responsible for anything that happen last night, a just him deh a wrong place at the wrong time," Kenroy Thomas, a brother of the deceased said.

Thomas said, from what he was told, while Wilson was being attacked, he used Watt as a human shield and both were shot dead and the gunmen made their escape on foot.
