Four Reggae Boyz make Fox Sports Gold Cup best XI

Jamaicans Kemar Lawrence, Rodolph Austin, Wes Morgan, and Giles Barnes were named in a best XI of the 2015 CONCACAF Gold Cup by Fox Sports writers in the United States.

Jamaica finished runner-up to Mexico in the tournament which ended on Sunday in Philadelphia.

The Jamaicans were beaten 3-1 by the Mexicans, but the Reggae Boyz were listed by the American sports channel as being some of the best players in the tournament.

Defender Lawrence was cited as being the best defender of the tournament.

"The New York Red Bulls left back locked down opposing wingers with regularity and then pushed forward intelligently to help his team on the break. He played a critical role for a team that functioned wonderfully for much of this tournament," said the Fox report.

Morgan was cited for being a rock in the middle of the Jamaican defence, immovable and relentless.

Meanwhile, midfielder, Austin, was termed "the heart and soul in the middle of the compact Jamaican shape".

Austin was called combative, but effective in approaching his duties.

Barnes was noted for saving his best work for the knockout stage, providing Jamaica with necessary goals.

Also among the best XI were Mexico captain, Andres Guardado, Panama goalkeeper and defender, Jaime Penedo and Roman Torres, respectively; midfielders, Michael Bradley (United States), Joevin Jones (Trinidad and Tobago), and Andres Guardado (Mexico); forwards Clint Dempsey (United States); and Kenwyne Jones (Trinidad and Tobago).
