One hundred additional police officers deployed to western Jamaica

As activities continue under the Jamaica Constabulary Force's National Coordinated Crime Reduction Strategy, the Police High Command has signalled its continued commitment to supporting crime fighters in western Jamaica with the deployment of in excess of 100 additional police officers to the Area- One Division.

Additionally, the commanders and detectives who were previously deployed to St James to strengthen administrative capacity and augment investigative capability are to remain in the parish for the long haul.

Citing a noticeable reduction in crime since the launch of the Crime Reduction Strategy in July, Commissioner of Police Dr Carl Williams said, "We have seen some promising early outcomes as a result of Crime Reduction Strategy in Area One.

Since the new strategy has been implemented we have noticed that murders in the division have been curtailed somewhat. However, we won't rest on our laurels, rather we will keep up the push and further intensify efforts from here on as we aim to make the communities in the division safe once more."
