A-Team igniting Jamaican parties

Fast-rising as a favourite of partygoers and music lovers in Jamaica is a group of talented, driven, young entertainers, A-Team.

Since their entrance to the Jamaican party scene, they have been consistently performing at a top-class level, growing in popularity with each gig.

Composing of, Carl 'Carlos' Simpson, Sanjay 'Centrum' Foster and Marlon 'Ace' Mitchell, A-Team was established in November 2013 by Carlos and Centrum. Ace joined in July 2014.

The trio hails from various sections of Jamaica. Ace's from Kingston, Centrum from St Elizabeth and Carlos from Manchester.

Centrum explained that the level of diversity is an important part of their success.

"We all played music in different areas before forming the team. Therefore, we can pool together knowledge and ideas, allowing us to play for various kinds of crowds in a myriad of settings," he said.

Their career as A-Team took off in November 2014, when they released their mixtape The Jamaican Party X-Perience.

"The mix-tape scene in Jamaica is saturated; consequently, we felt the need to come up with something unique. Hence, we recreated the Jamaican party vibe by using a live emcee and incorporating all the popular genres," Carlos explained.

Rave reviews

The mix-tape received rave reviews after totalling approximately 20,000 plays and 9,000 downloads across the Sound Cloud and Mediafire platforms respectively.

Since their establishment, they have frequented shows in Kingston, St Elizabeth, Manchester, St Catherine and Westmoreland, playing at popular events such as UWI Integration and Carnival, Booze, Risky Business, The Rack City Club, Indulgence, and ASAP.

In addition to their accomplishments in music, Ace believes the intelligence of the team has been a key factor for their success.

Each member has been successful in their educational endeavours. Ace, completed a Bachelor of Science. degree in Programme and Project Management, Carlos, a Bachelor of

Science in Mechanical/Aerospace Engineering and Centrum set to complete a Bachelor of

Science in Management Studies this academic year.
