According to author and publisher of 'The Daily Motivator', Ralph Marston, our destiny is to fulfill those things upon which we focus most intently, so he encourages people to choose to keep their focus on "that which is truly magnificent, beautiful, uplifting and joyful."I couldn't agree more.

I don't know how it is for you, but I insist that 'feel good' is a decision. Fi real, folks, my moods don't make me, I make them; not successfully all the while, but at least I try resolutely. Yeah, man, so when things are not going too well for me or when stress and depression threatening to spoil this big party that we call life, I just muscle up mind and focus my energy on finding a 'feel good' trigger. And I have several.

Listening to Aretha Franklin's rendition of Ac-cent-u-ate the Positive or tuning in to a recording of Nina Simone belting out I'm Feeling Good usually does the trick by giving me an instant 'feel good' kick!

Well, I have a brand new one now. And guess what it is! It's that video clip of the women's 4x400m relay final from the recently concluded IAAF World Athletic Championships. I can't tell you how many times I have played and replayed that video since Sunday. And each time I watch it my 'feel good' sensors get over stimulated.

Trust me, peeps, the performance of Christine Day, Sherika Jackson, Stephenie-Ann McPherson and Novlene Williams-Mills in that race makes feel especially proud to be Jamaican, and watching it works wonders to make me feel more invigorated, inspired and

uplifted. Yeah, man. It does things to my mind and body. How about you?

I think it touch my good friend and actress Ann McKenzie in the same places as well because Ann suggested in a cheeky little post on her Facebook page the other day, that thanks to those games in Beijing her sex life will never be the same again.

Thrilling climax

She was referring to the uninhibited and utter excitement in the voice of the British commentator, the one who, as Novlene Williams-Mills ran down McCorory of the USA in the final moments of the closing leg, raised his voice in an orgasmic crescendo, and screamed 'she's coming, the Jamaican is coming!' yeah friends and family, that was thrilling climax to a sizzling encounter. It was three minutes and couple seconds of 'coming' that sweet the entire Jamaican population one time.

Such scenes, along with all the other exceptional efforts of all our athletes are great motivational moments that I chose to focus on during the games. I refused to get into the never aspects of arguing about who is on drugs and who isn't. And I refused to join the many who gave so much unnecessary energy to 'tracing off' German hurdler Cindy Roleder for her perceived snub of Shermaine Williams.

I also refused to join those who hurled abuse at Asafa Powell because he did not make it to the medal podium in the 100m final or the ungrateful ones who harshly criticised Javon Francis for failing to win his anchor leg in the men's 4x400 relay. Fi wha reason? Why notice negativity when so much niceness deh bout fi enjoy?

"Successful people maintain a positive focus in life no matter what is going on around them. They stay focused on their past successes rather than their past failures, and on the next action steps they need to take to get them closer to the fulfillment of their goals rather than all the other distractions that life presents to them". So says Jack Canfield, writer, motivational speaker, and the co-author of the Chicken Soup for the Soul series. What say you?
