Buff Bay, Portland:

A 41-year-old farmer was shot and injured Monday evening by a lone gunman, while playing dominoes in Buff Bay, Portland.

He is a resident of Nelson Street in the community, police said.

According to the police, the farmer was reportedly playing dominoes at a bar with friends shortly after 8:50 p.m., when the gunman approached them on foot.

The man allegedly pulled a handgun from his waist and opened fire before fleeing the scene on foot.

Running away

During the shooting, three of the domino players managed to evade the gunshots by diving for cover and running away in fear for their lives.

It was later discovered that the farmer had been shot several times. He was rushed to the Annotto Bay Hospital and later transferred to another hospital, where he was admitted in a serious but stable condition.

A massive crowd also converged at the scene, with several utterances from residents, who expressed concern as to the new crime wave taking over Portland, which has been dubbed the safest parish islandwide.

The Portland police are investigating the matter.
