Dwayne Bravo receives T&T's third highest award

PORT-OF-SPAIN, Trinidad (CMC)

West Indies and Trinidad and Tobago all-rounder Dwayne Bravo has been presented with the Humming-bird Medal, the country's third highest award.

The medal was presented to Bravo Monday night for his service to sport amidx celebrations marking the twin island republic's 53rd anniversary since gaining independence.

Bravo led the Trinidad and Tobago Red Force to the Caribbean Premier League title in 2015 producing outstanding performances with the bat and ball.

"Receiving the third highest award in Trinidad and Tobago, the Hummingbird Gold, for my contribution to sport," Bravo posted on social media.

"I could not have done it without the love and support of my fans and most of all my teammates. This one is for you".

Bravo, half-brother of fellow West Indies player Darren Bravo and cousin of West Indies legend Brian Lara, was also part of the Mumbai Indians team that won the 2015 Indian Premier League title.

President of the Trinidad and Tobago Cricket Board (TTCB), Azim Bassarath, congratulated Bravo, describing his award as 'well-deserved' and saying it will help to motivate other young cricketers to work hard and establish themselves.

Bravo has played 40 Tests and 164 ODIs for the West Indies as well as 11 first-class matches and over 300 T20 games.
