Reggae Boy Lee Williamson, who is making a return to the national senior team after seven years, is eager to prove what he is capable of and is confident he can tie down a regular starting place in Winfried Schäfer's World Cup squad.

The Blackburn Rovers midfielder, who arrived with five other members of the Reggae Boyz squad at the Norman Manley International Airport yesterday, was called up in May 2008 by Brazilian Rene Simoes, for the 2010 World Cup Qualifiers, but sustained an injury and was forced to miss the opportunity.

But the 33-year-old is excited about his recall and is eager to prove he has the quality to keep his spot.

"I can't wait. It's exciting times and I am glad to be back in the squad," he told reporters. "I am pleased with myself. It's been a while now since I came over and this time I'm looking to play," he said.

The player believes that his form for Blackburn in the English Championship was the main reason for his recall and he wants to demonstrate his ability to the fans.

''I've been playing regular football in the championship in England and that must be one of the main reasons (for recall), as I am playing in a good league.

"I still have the hunger and I can't wait to get out there, hopefully I start in the first game and the second game as well.

"It's going to be an exciting game and I am looking for a good performance,' he continued.

"Last season, I played 35 games for Blackburn and hopefully I can bring that form over here ... as we got two games and we got to win," he said.

Also arriving yesterday were Adrian Mariappa, Simon Dawkins, Giles Barnes, Chris Humphrey and Joel Grant.
