Beenie gets feet loose at Footloose

Scenes during Footloose Retro Party at Mas Camp, Kingston. - Anthony Minott

Arguably one of dancehall's best stage performers, dancehall icon Beenie Man literally had the ladies eating out of his hands during a live performance at the Wray & Nephew White Rum's Footloose Retro Party held at Mas Camp, National Stadium, on Saturday night.

Beenie Man took to the stage minutes after 2 a.m. and delivered a telling set to a jam-packed venue. Drawing on '90s hits such as Who Am I (Sim Simma), Girls Dem Sugar,Romie, and Wicked Slam, the 'forwards' went up and the roars increased.

Overzealous females held the artiste's garments as he pelted lyrics from a long list of hits. The crowd went into a frenzy as he beckoned his loyal fans to wave hands high in the air while rocking to Chakka Chakka. Beenie Man left the stage with his female fans clamouring for more.

With the party in full swing, the crowd's spirits were dampened about 2:45 a.m. as members of the security forces called an abrupt end to proceedings.
