MAN SHOT DEAD WHILE PREACHING

A preacher was shot dead last night as he delivered a sermon to members of his congregation in Mud Town, Papine, St. Andrew, last night.

He has been identified as Delroy Steven Roper, of a St Andrew address.

The August Town police, who are investigating, say Roper, who was the brother of jailed gangster Joel Andem, was shot and killed in front of his congregation as he preached.

Reports are that Roper was in the community delivering the Lord's word when he was viciously attacked and shot. He died on the spot.

Up to press time, no motive was established for his death.

Meanwhile, in St Catherine, a man was shot and killed as he walked along the Thompson Pen main road.

According to residents, the man was walking along the road when explosions were heard. He was later found suffering from gunshot wounds.

The police were called and his body was removed.

The Spanish Town police are investigating.
