May Pen businessman shot, one of his attackers killed

A May Pen businessman and one of his employees were yesterday shot and injured, while one of his assailants was killed in an early morning gun battle in May Pen, Clarendon.

According to police reports, the businessman and an employee went to a quarry on the outskirts of May Pen to conduct business. While exiting the quarry's compound, a silver Nissan Tiida motor car drove up with two armed men who shot and injured the two.

The businessman, who is a licensed firearm holder, returned the fire and one of the gunmen who sped off in the car was hit. He later turned up at the Kingston Public Hospital, where he succumbed to his injury, while undergoing treatment.

An investigator at the May Pen Police Station said that both injured men were rushed to the May Pen Hospital where they were admitted in serious condition.
