Star Tell Me Pastor

My church knows I have HIV

I got baptised two years ago. I found out I have HIV. I became ill and the virus caused me to have sores on my vagina so I cannot walk well.

I was experiencing an unusual discharge. When I attend church, I wear sanitary napkins. One of my church sisters came to my home and told my mother she should buy a lot of bleach to bleach out my mouth. The woman went to church and told everybody about my problem. Now everybody knows that I am HIV-positive and they scorn me.

J

Dear J,

This woman who went and told the church that you are HIV-positive doesn't know anything about love.

She should read 1 Corinthians 13 which teaches what true Christianity is.

She should offer to assist you and not to embarrass you in any way because love is kind and helpful.

I am sorry to know you are HIV-positive and hope you follow the advice of your doctor and take your medication as prescribed.

Though you feel embarrassed, continue to attend church.

I suggest your mother invite the pastor to your house.

She should let the minister know that she is disappointed in the sister who has divulged everything to the church.

She should also ask him to deal with this sister in the appropriate manner, according to the Scripture.
