MR VEGAS CLEARS NAME

Mr Vegas

Says rapist comments not linked to another artiste

Dancehall artiste Mr Vegas has sought to set the record straight about stories that have been circulating on social media regarding statements he made.

Just recently, the entertainer spoke out against pedophiles and rapists on his video blog, MV Corner.

Since then, several stories have surfaced, giving rise to speculations that Vegas may have been throwing 'shade' at a fellow artiste.

However, Mr Vegas has come out to clear his name, stating that he did not single out anyone specific in his previous post.

In another video for his MV Corner that was posted yesterday, Mr Vegas said that since his video came out showing him lashing out against pedophiles and rapists, several websites have been using his statements to make links to another story involving another entertainer.

Vegas, however, stated that his post was general and he did not call any names.

"The other day I made a post about pedophiles and rapists and it was a general post, I didn't point any fingers at anyone. I didn't call anybody's name, or single out anyone," he said.

"Now a lot of websites and media houses have been running with the story and linking other people to the story, so I just want to make it clear that I didn't call anyone's name, I made a general statement."

The I am Blessed singer went on to say that people who have been following his posts on MV Corner would know that him speaking out against pedophiles and rapists is nothing new.

"I have my daughters and I know Karma," he said. "I know if I support certain things, I know when it comes around and reaches my household, I will see my Karma so I cannot support certain things."

He added that he was in no way judging pedophiles and rapists because everyone makes mistakes and no one is perfect. He said he respects people who know they have made a mistake and tries to correct it rather than repeat it.

Vegas also said that some Jamaicans think it's the norm to engage in sexual activities with a person even if he/she says no.

"In Jamaica, it's hard to get the issue of rape off the ground because people think it's the norm to hold down a girl and tek it," he said, revealing that he has been ridiculed in the past for trying to set up his organisation, Jamaican Men Against Rape.

After Vegas' post yesterday, several websites have been making links to a story which broke on Twitter earlier this week involving a veteran reggae artiste.

The websites have been linking the veteran entertainer to pedophilia after Twitter users, claiming to live in proximity to him, made statements regarding him being involved in sexual relationships with several teenagers in the community.
