Reggae Girlz to host clinic at Florida extravaganza

RAYMOND GRAHAM, STAR Writer

Member of Jamaica's Reggae Girlz football team will be special guests at this year's staging of the Jamaica High School Alumni Soccer and Netball Tournament (JHSASN) at Lauderhill Sports Complex, Fort Lauderdale, tomorrow and Monday.

This is the seventh staging. The young Reggae Girlz team will host clinics with young players. They will also meet and mingle with guests over the two days.

Jamaican high-school teams will be aiming for bragging rights at the championships.

The Mannings School of Westmoreland are defending champions.

Co-ordinator of the event, Lavern Deer, expects keener competition this time around.

"All systems are set for this coming holiday weekend as competition, this time around, is expected to be much more competitive. Teams are also playing for bragging rights and schools from the Corporate Area in Jamaica are anxious to end the dominance of their rural counterparts," said Deer.

"We are very excited about the demonstration of our growth, and cannot say enough how much we appreciate our Caribbean-American friends here in South Florida," said Deer.
