Dancehall artiste Jay-5Flow is creating a genuine buzz stateside with his latest single, Dancehall Macarena on the Hotbox Productions label.

Released in May of this year, the single has been generating airplay on radio stations in Los Angeles and the Oakland areas of California and is also doing well in Central America, especially in Panama.

"The song is hot, the fans love the beat and the lyrics because it is a fun song and they love doing the Jamaican dancehall moves," Jay-5Flow said.

The video has generated over 40,000 views on VEVO since its release in June.

"When I first heard the riddim, it sounded like the original Macarena, so I came up with the idea of a dancing song. I asked the choreographer, Betty Rox, to come in studio with me, and I sang the hook, and we conceptualised the dance at the same time and put everything together, and it shot!" an enthusiastic Jay-5Flow said.

Born Omar Craig Forsythe, Jay-5 grew up in Ocho Rios. In the late 1990s with the support of his good friend, Rvssian, Jay-5 performed at many shows and various other venues and resorts.

In 2003, Jay-5 relocated to Los Angeles, California to further pursue his career in entertainment, but he took a hiatus from the business until 2008 when he took on music full time and teamed up with the Red Square Crew. Last year, Jay-5 made his debut appearance on the biggest dancehall/reggae one-night show, Sting, and he has not looked back since.

The artiste is looking forward to his performance on this year's Sting concert as he has just been confirmed for the show.

"Everybody will be doing the Dancehall Macarena at Sting this year," he said.
