Cops retrieve body of man suspected of drowning The body of 23-year-old Mickail Betancourt of Havendale, St Andrew, was retrieved from water in Chepso district, Portland, yesterday. Betancourt was suspected to have drowned, while swimming in a river in Claverty Cottage, Portland, on Saturday. The Buff Bay police, with the assistance of the Jamaica Defence Force Coast Guard, launched a search for the body then, but he was not found until yesterday when it was seen in the other district. Reports from the Buff Bay police are that about 4:30 p.m. on Saturday, Betancourt was among a group of persons swimming in Claverty Cottage, when he allegedly got into difficulties and drowned. Betancourt's body was retrieved by divers about 2 p.m. yesterday. The scene was processed and the body removed to the morgue. |
