1 dead, 7 hurt in crash
A motor vehicle accident in St Thomas on the weekend has claimed the life of a senior citizen.

It is reported that seven other persons, including an 11-year-old student, have been admitted to hospital in serious condition following the incident.

Dead is 80-year-old George Perry of Prospect, in the parish.

The Morant Bay police said about 1:40 p.m., a Suzuki Jimny had just turned on to the Prospect main road when a green Toyota Vista motor car collided with it, pushing it into a nearby bus stop.

It is reported that the Jimny hit Perry, who was sitting on a wall by a bus stop along the main road.

Further reports are that Perry and the seven other persons, who were occupants in both motor vehicles, were rushed to the Princess Margaret Hospital, where Perry was pronounced dead and the others admitted in serious but stable condition.

Investigations are ongoing.
