JN Money Shops introduces in-store promotions
Beginning this month, JN Money Shops will be introducing in-store promotions that will offer customers the opportunity to win prizes for processing transactions, says Phillip Bernard, Community Banking and Administration Executive at Jamaica National Building Society (JNBS).

The promotions are part of a new Pay as You Go campaign being undertaken at the eight JN Money Shops located around the island. Bernard said the campaign will highlight the services and convenience offered by the JN Money Shops, and offer incentives for their use.

"Customers value their time, and the convenience of conducting transactions with ease," Bernard stated. "The JN Money Shops were developed to provide these facilities for residents of underserved communities."

Services

The financial centres currently offer services such as collection of remittances, bill payments, and JNBS mortgage payments; as well as some JNBS savings account transactions, such as savings and withdrawals, FX trading, mobile phone top-ups and telegraphic transfers. Bernard stated that new services will be added in the coming months.

"Our fee structure is being adjusted, but we have ensured that Money Shop transaction costs remain very competitive," he said.

While JN Members have the option of using the Money Shops, Bernard pointed out that they also have cost-effective transaction channels such as the JN Automated Teller Machines (ATM), Deposit Boxes and the society's Internet banking portal, LIVE by JN.

The JN Money Shops evolved out of JNBS's Community Banking concept of increasing access to financial services and other facilities that support economic empowerment at the community level while reducing the poverty penalty faced by the nation's poor, he declared. They have flexible operating hours, including being open on weekends, and are located within population centres, allowing easy access for residents.

"Money Shops can be considered an extension to our full service JNBS branches, as similar services can be accessed, beyond the traditional business hours of the larger branch facilities," Bernard stated. "This is all part of our efforts to ensure that our customers realise the value of conducting their business inside the JN Money Shops and see them as preferred service providers based on their specific needs."
